The NMC (National Medical Commission) has stated clearly that there is no need to submit separate proposals or any payment of additional fees by the medical colleges for the recognition of MBBS seats. Now, the renewal of seats or the annual permission will be treated as recognition under the new regulatory framework.
According to the official clarification, the NMC stated that the previous rule of granting recognition to MBBS seats has been ended. It has ended because of the implementation of the Maintenance of Standards of Medical Education Regulations, 2023.
NMC New Rule
This new rule/clarification was done, when various medical colleges sent multiple applications for recognition of MBBS seats with the prescribed fees to the UGEMB (Undergraduate Medical Education Board).
The Commission has stated that medical institutions aren’t required to submit separate applications or submit any fee structure. As the mbbs seats are approved annually, the permitted batch will be stated as recognized for that particular year.
A separate notification has been issued, asking all the medical colleges and institutes to submit the admission details of MBBS students for year 2025-26. The colleges must submit the complete data till January 15th 2026. The National Medical Commission has asked the medical colleges and institutions to follow the new updated regulations so that there won’t be any academic complications in the ongoing and coming admission batches.
