The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, has invited applications for its research fellowship programs commencing in January 2027. These fellowships are intended for researchers at various stages of their academic and professional careers.
NLSIU is accepting applications for three programs: the Graduate Research Fellowship, the NLSIU Postdoctoral Fellowship, and the University Research Fellowship. These programs involve research in law, social sciences, public policy, and related fields.
Candidates can apply until 5:00 PM on October 30, 2026. Applications must be submitted via the Google Forms provided for the respective fellowships on the official NLSIU website.
There are 10 seats available for the Graduate Research Fellowship, while the Postdoctoral Fellowship and the University Research Fellowship offer five seats each.
National Law School of India University Fellowship 2027: Who Can Apply?
For the Graduate Research Fellowship, candidates must hold a graduate degree in law or a postgraduate degree in social sciences, public policy, or a related field.
Applicants for the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Postdoctoral Fellowship must have completed a PhD in law, social sciences, public policy, or a related subject within the last three years. Additionally, they must not have previously held a postdoctoral position at another university.
The University Research Fellowship is open to candidates who possess a recognised PhD, at least 10 years of teaching or relevant professional experience, and a strong record of publications.

The starting monthly remuneration is:

NLSIU has stated that the final amount will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, educational background, experience, and overall suitability.
Selected fellows are generally required to be present at the NLSIU campus in Bengaluru during the fellowship; however, the university may grant exemptions on a case-by-case basis.
