Tech Startup Showcase: IIT Kanpur will host its flagship startup showcase, ‘Abhivyakti 2026,’ at the IIT Kanpur campus on March 20-21, 2026. This showcase is being organized by the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC). The event will feature over 150 innovative startups from across India, alongside investors, mentors, policymakers, and industry stalwarts.
The theme of the event is “Transforming Cutting-Edge Research into Global Solutions.” A press release states that the objective of this two-day program is to provide a platform to accelerate the process of taking research-based innovations from laboratories to the market by fostering collaboration among startups, venture capitalists, industry leaders, academicians, and policymakers.

Tech Startup Showcase ‘Abhivyakti 2026’ will include a tech startup exhibition, thematic panel discussions, interactions with founders, engagements with investors, and networking sessions. These sessions will offer startups opportunities to showcase their technologies and connect with key stakeholders within the innovation ecosystem. By bringing together startups, investors, corporates, policymakers, and research institutions on a single platform, the event aims to foster collaborations that facilitate technology transfer and help transform research-based innovations into scalable, implementable solutions.

Meanwhile, a homecoming of sorts was witnessed at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur as students from the 1990 batch returned to the campus for their ‘Coral Jubilee Reunion.’ This occasion marked the completion of 35 years since their graduation. Alumni from both India and abroad gathered together for this event. As part of these celebrations, the batch announced a collective pledge of ₹13.2 crore to support IIT Kanpur’s academic, research, and student-centric initiatives.
Rajiv Ranjan, the coordinator for the 1990 batch, noted that the batch’s ‘Silver Jubilee’ contribution, which stood at ₹70 lakh, has now grown to ₹1.5 crore and continues to support scholarships. He further highlighted that the batch has now surpassed its ‘Coral Jubilee’ fundraising target of ₹13 crore. He expressed confidence that the 1990 batch would remain actively engaged with the institute in the years to come.
