Prime Minister Narendra Modi Celebrated Diwali 2024 With Soldiers in Kutch, Gujarat

The event marks the continuation of his tradition of celebrating the festival with the country's armed forces.

On Thursday, October 31, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali with Border Security Force (BSF), Indian Army, Navy and Air Force personnel at Lucky Nala in Sir Creek area of ​​Kutch in Gujarat. The event marks the continuation of his tradition of celebrating the festival with the country’s armed forces.

Popularly known as Sir Creek, the place is characterised by its extreme inaccessibility, with scorching sun during the day and cold winds at night. An official source said that the landscape here is quite challenging. During his visit to the BSF post located on the Pakistan border, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the jawans and wished them a Happy Diwali.

Since becoming Prime Minister in 2014, PM Modi has started a tradition of celebrating Diwali with military personnel at various places across the country. Every year PM Modi visits military establishments, meets soldiers and takes part in the festivities.

In 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali with security forces in Siachen Glacier.

The next year in 2015 he visited three memorials in Punjab to honour the Indian Army’s successes in the 1965 war.

In 2016, he went to Himachal Pradesh to meet soldiers near the China border and interacted with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Dogra Scouts and Army uniformed personnel at Sumdoh.

In 2017, Modi visited Gurez sector in north Kashmir, while in 2018 he celebrated Diwali at Harsil in Uttarakhand, where he made a surprise visit to soldiers.

In 2019, Modi met soldiers in Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir and in 2020 he visited the border outpost of Longewala.

Modi will celebrate the festival of lights in Nowshera in Jammu and Kashmir next year.

In 2022, Modi will celebrate Diwali with soldiers in Kargil.

Last year the Prime Minister was in Lepcha, Himachal Pradesh to celebrate the festival with soldiers.
