Operation Sindoor Updates: Schools and Colleges Closed in India’s Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan

A high alert has been issued in the borde r districts of western Rajasthan as well as a blackout has been imposed in these areas from midnight to 4 am due to the possible threat of air strikes.

Operation Sindoor Updates: In view of the escalating tension between India and Pakistan following the recent Operation Sindoor updates, authorities have decided to close educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Punjab, Rajasthan and Ladakh.

The J&K government announced on Thursday the temporary closure of all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, in the Union Territory until Saturday as a precautionary measure. In a similar move, the Leh administration declared on Friday that all schools in the district would also remain closed for the same duration.

The Punjab government has ordered closure of all educational institutions for the next three days in view of the escalating tension along the India-Pakistan border. On Thursday evening, authorities in the tricity region (Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula) also announced that all schools will remain closed on Friday and Saturday. The Punjab University in Chandigarh has postponed examinations scheduled for May 9, 10 and 12. The university said new dates will be announced later. According to officials, all educational institutions in Panchkula in Haryana will remain closed on Friday and Saturday.

In Rajasthan, government and private educational institutions, including all colleges in Jodhpur, have been closed in the districts of Sriganganagar, Bikaner,  Jaisalmer, and Barmer.
