NEET-UG 2023 Update: Registration Likely to Start From March 5, Says NTA Official

The registration for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG 2023) is likely to begin from March 5, an NTA official has confirmed to media. Once the notification is released, candidates will be able to apply at the NTA official website – neet.nta.nic.in.

Ever year National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts NEET UG entrance exam for MBBS UG admission in India and Abroad.

As per the official NTA entrance exam calendar, NEET-UG 2023 entrance exam is scheduled to be held on May 7, 2023. While the registration was earlier scheduled to take place between the 2nd week of January to the last week of February, the NTA official had told to media that the application process would take a little more time, and would likely start by the 5th of March 2023.

Meanwhile, as per the recently released draft rules, the National Medical Commission (NMC) may conduct the NEET UG exam or designate any such agency or authority to conduct the entrance test. However, the Board of Undergraduate Medical Education will determine the language and modalities of the examination, etc.

The guidelines state that no student shall be eligible to pursue (medical education undergraduate ) in India or Abroad except by securing the minimum eligible marks in the NEET-UG 2023 exam. To appear for the NEET UG entrance exam, a candidate must have successfully passed class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English in the last two years of school.

NEET-UG 2023 Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates who have passed Class 12 or will appear for Class 12 board examination can apply for the entrance examination. He/she has completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31 December of the year of his/her admission to the first year of the Undergraduate Medical Course.

NEET UG Reservation Criteria:

Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15% of seats in all course.

Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5% of seats in all course.

Persons with Disability (PwD) – 5% seats in each of OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST category seats.

NEET UG 2023 Exam will Languages:

The NEET-UG 2023 would be conducted in 13 languages English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
