BITS Pilani Hyderabad Opens PhD Admissions in Physics Apply by November 18

Eligible candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in their MSc in Physics or any related branch of BE or BTech.

BITS Pilani Hyderabad: The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Hyderabad, has commenced the PhD admission process in Physics for both full-time and part-time positions. Eligible candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in their MSc in Physics or any related branch of BE or BTech. Admission will be determined through a written examination followed by an interview.

However, candidates who have completed their ME, MTech, MPhil, or cleared competitive exams like NET and GATE are exempted from the written test.

The application deadline is November 18. Shortlisted candidates will be informed separately for the written test and interview stages. Prospective students can apply by visiting the official website at bitsadmission.com/bitsphweb/index.aspx.

The institute has highlighted several research areas for which they are seeking candidates, including topics such as general relativity, black holes, astrophysics, quantum optics, biomaterials, biophysics, high-energy physics, and the modeling of quantum devices. Candidates admitted to the PhD program will be eligible for research or project assistantships, with a stipend starting at ₹31,000 per month in the first year, which may increase in subsequent years. Additionally, selected candidates will be expected to engage in teaching and other academic activities, under the guidance of a mentor.
