National Constitution Day 2024: President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday released a commemorative coin and postage stamp on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Constitution of India at Samvidhaan Sadan.
A commemorative coin and postage stamp have been issued to honour the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India. The President also released the first Sanskrit copy of the Constitution. This year marks the 75th anniversary of its adoption, and the Central Government plans to celebrate this significant milestone with a variety of year-long activities under the ‘Hamara Samvidhaan, Hamara Swabhiman’ initiative.
President Draupadi Murmu today (November 26, 2024) began the celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India with a joint address to both Houses of Parliament. The Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949, but it came into force on January 26, 1950, when India became a republic. The government has organized a series of year-long festivities to commemorate the event.
On November 25, 2024, the Centre launched a new website, https://constitution75.com, aimed at enhancing citizen interaction with the Constitution’s heritage. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to participate in the National Constitution Day 2024 celebrations at the Supreme Court, where he will release the Annual Report of the Indian Judiciary for the year 2023-24.
Recalling the contribution of 15 women members of the Constituent Assembly in the making of the Constitution, President Draupadi Murmu said that the law on women’s reservation has ushered in a transformative period of female empowerment within our democratic framework. During her speech on the occasion of Constitution Day, President Murmu highlighted the important changes that have taken place in the last few years.
She also mentioned the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax as well as the Indian Judicial Code. He mentioned that in recent years, the government has launched several unprecedented initiatives designed to benefit all segments of society, especially marginalized communities. Poor people now have security related to health, housing and food.”
