Ratan Tata was Given a Tearful Farewell, Last Rites Performed with State Honours

Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran issued a message on behalf of the group on the demise of Ratan Tata. Chandrasekaran described the contribution of Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata as incomparable.

Ratan Tata or industrialist, philanthropist Ratan Naval Tata’s body was kept for the last darshan at the NCPA ground. A huge crowd gathered here to see him for the last time. His last journey started from the NCPA ground in Mumbai, after which he was cremated at the Worli crematorium.

Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran issued a message on behalf of the group on the demise of Ratan Naval Tata. Chandrasekaran described the contribution of Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata as incomparable. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, industrialist Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani, former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, film actor Aamir Khan, Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das and many other celebrities arrived to pay tribute to Ratan Tata.

The funeral of famous industrialist and philanthropist Tata was performed with full state honours at the crematorium in central Mumbai on Thursday evening. Mumbai Police paid tribute to Tata with a gun salute.

Family members of the industrialist tycoon, including his half-brother Noel Tata and top executives like Tata Group chairman N Chandrasekaran, were present at the crematorium in Worli.

In a statement, the Congress said it “is deeply saddened by the passing of Padma Vibhushan Shri Ratan Naval Tata, a titan of Indian industry and a philanthropist who shaped India’s corporate landscape.”

Hindustan Unilever CEO and Managing Director Rohit Java said Tata was an iconic business leader and a truly inspirational human being who epitomised the spirit of compassionate capitalism.

“This is truly the end of an era for India Inc. His legacy will live on through his incomparable contributions to the nation and the Indian business landscape,” Mr Java said.
