The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) held its seventh convocation ceremony, awarding a total of 420 degrees to graduating students. The degrees conferred included 209 B.Tech, 124 M.Tech, 23 M.Sc., and 64 PhD degrees.
Shankar M. Venugopal, Vice President of Mahindra Research Valley (Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.), chaired the event as the chief guest, and Amitabh Ranjan, Vice Chairman of Pan IIT Alumni India, participated as the guest of honour.
IIT Jammu Awards: Students Awarded Gold and Silver Medals Based on Performance
Students demonstrating outstanding academic performance were honoured with gold and silver medals during the ceremony. Vivek Kumar Shandilya, a student from the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, received the President’s Gold Medal for achieving the highest CGPA among B.Tech graduates. Ayush Raj from the Department of Chemical Engineering was awarded the Director’s Gold Medal for the best overall performance.
Among postgraduate students, Mohammad Shamsul Haque (M.Tech Civil Engineering) received the Institute’s Gold Medal for securing the highest CGPA among M.Tech graduates, while Sheikh Abid Nisar (M.Sc. Chemistry) received the Institute’s Gold Medal for the highest CGPA among M.Sc. graduates.
Students who achieved the highest CGPA in their respective branches were awarded the Institute’s Silver Medal. From the B.Tech program, Ayush Raj (Chemical Engineering), Khushbu (Civil Engineering), Chaitanya Tandon (Computer Science and Engineering), Nageshwar Kumar (Electrical Engineering), and Harshit Beri (Mechanical Engineering) were among the silver medalists.
In the postgraduate programs, silver medals were awarded to Shivangi Sharma (M.Tech Chemical Engineering), Anshu Kumari (M.Tech Computer Science and Engineering), Sandeep Kumar (M.Tech Electrical Engineering), Binod Kumar (M.Tech Mechanical Engineering), and Akshita (M.Sc. Physics). The institute also unveiled a sculpture named ‘Antardrishti’ (meaning “inner vision”), dedicated to the batch graduating in 2026.
