The Executive Council of Delhi University has approved the introduction of foreign language courses in an online mode for students of the School of Open Learning (SOL). These courses will be offered through the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies and the Department of East Asian Studies.
According to the Council’s agenda, the languages covered under Germanic and Romance Studies include French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and Italian. The Department of East Asian Studies will teach Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. The Department of Slavonic and Finno-Ugrian Studies will teach Russian.
Foreign Language: Classes will be Conducted Online
According to Payal Mago, Director of the Campus of Open Learning and Chairperson of the SOL Governing Body, “Foreign language courses already exist. The EC has now approved their launch in an online mode. We aim to introduce them during the 2026-27 academic session or by the next academic session.”
The classes will be conducted online, offering students significant convenience in terms of time and accessibility. Mago further explained that students will be able to access video lectures and assignments through their designated platform.
