IIM Guwahati is the second IIM in the Northeast and the 22nd in the country. The region’s first IIM was established in Shillong. Last year, the central government approved the opening of IIM Guwahati as part of its efforts to expand access to quality management education.

With this inauguration, the institute has launched its executive education program. This program was developed by mentor institute IIM Ahmedabad, and the first batch includes officials from the Assam government. The executive course aims to strengthen leadership and management capabilities in public administrators. IIM Ahmedabad will also monitor temporary academic arrangements.
