UPPSC Cancelled Conducting Exams in Prayagraj due to Magh Mela Heavy Traffic

UPPSC (Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission) has announced that the exams won’t be conducted in Prayagraj, since a major bathing festival, Magh Mela will begin from 3rd January 2026 in Prayagraj. There will be a heavy crowd and traffic restrictions. So, it might be very inconvenient for students to attempt the exam. Thus, the officials have concluded not to conduct any recruitment exams in Prayagraj region.

There were various recruitment exams to be held in January and February in Prayagraj. The recruitment for LT Grade teachers for Govt. secondary schools for 8 subjects is about to be conducted in January 2026. On January 17th, the teacher recruitment examination will be conducted for the subjects of Social Sciences and Biology.

On January 18th, the teacher recruitment examination will be conducted for the subjects English and Physical Education. Further, on January 24th, the teacher recruitment examination will be conducted for subjects – Art and Horticulture/Agriculture. On January 25th, the teacher recruitment examination will be conducted for the subjects of Urdu and Music Papers.

But these examinations will now be held outside Prayagraj, since Magh Mela will begin from January 3rd 2026. There will be massive pilgrim movement around January 15th – Makar Sankranti, January 18th – Mauni Amavasya and January 23th Basant Panchmi. Thus, the exam centres will be allotted in another city.

The SSC (Staff Selection Commission) is about to hold CGL tier-II examination 2025 on 18th January and 19th January 2026. But it is more likely to be held outside Prayagraj. The students who are not from Prayagraj will be allotted exam centres outside the city to avoid any inconvenience to students.
