ICC World Cup 2023: The ICC confirmed the prize money for the ICC World Cup 2023, announcing a USD 10 million for the marquee tournament. The total prize money for the 2023 Men’s World Cup to be held in India will be US$10 million (approximately Rs 84 crore). The winner of the marquee tournament will claim USD 4 million (approximately Rs 33 crore) from the above pool.
Meanwhile, the runner-up will be awarded US$2 million (approximately Rs 16.5 crore) in the final to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19. The tournament begins on October 5 with last years’ finalists, England and New Zealand, meeting in Ahmedabad. India will start its campaign against Australia on 8th.
During the group stage, all ten participating teams will compete against each other once in a round-robin format. The top four teams in the points table will advance to the semi-finals. Additionally, teams will have the opportunity to earn prize money for their wins in the group stage games, with each win paying US$40,000 (approximately Rs 33 lakh). If a team does not advance to the knockout stage, they will still receive USD 100,000 (INR 8.4 lakh).

An ICC release said, “This prize money also sets the precedent for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2025, for both men and women during the ICC annual conference to be held in Durban, South Africa in July 2023 the same amount was announced.”
Before the start of the tournament, all 10 teams will also take part in practice matches starting on September 29. India will face England and Netherlands in their two warm-up matches before the tournament. While the top-8 teams in the ODI Super League secured automatic qualification for the World Cup, two sides Sri Lanka and Netherlands had secured their places through the qualifiers earlier this year.
