What to do after CAT Exam; Roadmap to Success After Exams

After completing the CAT exam, applicants should start focusing on their knowledge base, communication skills, and ability to think on their feet.

What to do after CAT Exam; In your opinion, what should be done after CAT? Ideally, once the exam is over, most of the applicants, especially those who are not working, are a little confused as to what will happen after CAT. CAT preparation has become such a part of daily life that not a single day passes without it. Most of the candidates use this time to rest before the declaration of CAT result. However, this is a waste of time and you may lose your spot in your favorite B-school if you are not careful.

After completing the CAT exam, applicants should start focusing on their knowledge base, communication skills, and ability to think on their feet. Candidates who qualify for further shortlisting rounds like WAT, GD and PI should prepare diligently for these, especially GD. Preparing for the GD will help you demonstrate to the B-School you apply to why you are a good prospect.

Students should be extremely careful during this period as a genuine MBA aspirant has to complete various processes after CAT result. After the CAT exam, you should do four things:

Apply for B-School Admission

You need to keep in mind the deadlines for applying to the institutions you have chosen. Before receiving the CAT results, many B-schools have an application deadline. You cannot apply after the result is declared. Calculate your CAT score and fill the online application form as per your probable CAT score.

Newspapers or Articles should be a must-read.

Every part of news and newspaper or article is important for CAT. You should focus on the offered material, grammar, writing style and learning new words. Apart from the news, you should also read the editorial section of the newspaper. They will help you stay alert for your PI session and provide excellent support for your W.A.T (Written Aptitude Test), which will play a vital role in your overall selection.

If you currently read newspapers in the morning, now is a good time to expand your horizons and try reading newspapers with a different writing style. Every newspaper has its own taste. Here are some of them you should read.

  1. Times of India
  2. The Financial Times
  3. The Hindustan Times
  4. The Hindu

Attend Webinars and Workshops

Good preparation is essential for your GD-PI round; otherwise, your efforts will be in vain. Attend as many interactive sessions as possible. If you’re not ready for that level of commitment, you can always attend webinars. Everything you will face in your GD-PI round requires professional help, so don’t dismiss it out of hand.

Backup Strategies

The last thing you probably want to do right now is; Taking more exams is probably the last thing on your mind right now. The good thing is that you are already prepared and having a backup will do you no harm.

  1. GMAT- If you have any prior work experience, you can easily get admission in international business schools.
  2. If you’re a newcomer, all you need to do is create one great college essay that you can use for all your applications with minor changes.
  3. XAT – B-schools include XLRI, XUB, XIME, FORE and many more.
  4. TISSNET- TISSNET is run by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), which has campuses in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Guwahati .
