IIM Institute Bangalore Opens Admissions for the BSc (Hons) in Data Science and Economics for the 2026 Intake

IIM Institute Bangalore: The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) has declared the opening of admissions for its new four-year, full-time residential BSc (Hons) programs in Data Science and Economics. Applications for the academic year 2026-27 are currently open and will close on November 20, 2025. Interested candidates can register on the institute’s official website- ug.iimb.ac.in.

The programs will start at IIM Bangalore’s upcoming Jigani campus, providing two-degree options – BSc (Hons) in Data Science, with a minor in Economics and BSc (Hons) in Economics, paired with a minor in Data Science.

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science program is a full-time, residential program aimed at providing a solid foundation in data science, with a minor in Economics. It integrates technical knowledge in stochastic processes, algorithms, data structures, and psychology with applicable business practices.

According to a statement issued by IIM Bangalore, the curriculum is designed to enhance real-world problem-solving abilities, develop strong analytical skills, and promote experiential learning through internships, global experiences, and leadership training. Graduates are awarded a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Data Science.

The Bachelor of Science in Economics (Honours) is a full-time, on-campus program that includes a minor in data science and covers fundamental economic theory, statistical techniques, econometrics, and behavioural insights, all grounded in data mining methods and practical business learning. The program’s curriculum emphasises the development of analytical skills, critical reasoning, and professional skills, which are reinforced by internships, international experiences, and the enhancement of life skills, as described. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Science in Economics (Honours) degree.

These undergraduate programmes, designed under the National Education Policy (NEP), aim to blend academic rigour with real-world application and experiential learning.

IIM Institute Bangalore: Eligibility Criteria Undergraduate Program

+ Applicants must be 20 years of age or younger by August 1, 2026.

+ Successfully passed Class 12 (or equivalent examination) with Mathematics as a subject.

+ Minimum 60 percent marks in Mathematics in Class 10.

A total of 80 students (40 for each major) will be admitted to each program, ensuring small groups and individual attention. The IIM Bangalore Undergraduate Admission Test (IIMB UGAT) will be held on December 13, followed by personal interviews in January 2026.
