Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) started registration for new admissions for the January 2026 session on December 16. Students who wish to register for online distance learning (ODL) and online programs in the January 2026 academic session can register for these programs. The last date to apply for these programs is January 31.

The list of programs offered online is available on the official website-iop.ignouonline.ac.in. Students can view the programs and apply accordingly. An Indira Gandhi National Open University social media post stated: “New admissions for the January 2026 session for notified programs offered in ODL have started on the Samarth portal from December 16, 2025.
The Samarth portal can be accessed for the notified programs. The last date for new admissions for the January 2026 session is January 31, 2026.”
The registration fee is non-refundable. However, if a cancellation request is received before admission is confirmed, the fee paid will be refunded. Eligible students can also apply for government scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal – scholarships.gov.in – after their admission is confirmed.
