NEET-PG Counselling 2024: Hearing on Petition in SC Likely to be Held on October 4

NEET-PG Counselling 2024: The Supreme Court will now hear the petition related to NEET PG on October 4. A group of NEET PG candidates have filed the petition challenging the pattern of examination set by the National Board of Education for Medical Sciences (NBEMS).

The petition filed by Ishika Jain and others has sought disclosure of the standardisation of NEET PG 2024 answer key, question paper and marks as the exam was divided into two parts to ensure transparency in the selection process. Senior advocate Vibha Dutta Makhija and advocate Tanvi Dubey, representing the NEET PG candidates, claimed that last-minute changes were made by NBEMS related to the exam pattern.

Makhija said, “A standardised approach is needed,” and added that there were no rules to ensure how the exam should be conducted. The entire situation depended on a single information bulletin, which could be changed at the discretion of the authorities. This is very unusual… (The exam pattern was changed) three days before the exam… there will be anger among students, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, heading a three-judge bench, said.

They say you did not make the rules as everything goes according to the prospectus, yet the entire exam format is changed three days before the exam. How can you do all this?” the CJI asked. However, the CBI counsel said they have “not done anything new or unusual”, which the bench rejected. According to records available on the Supreme Court website, the matter was listed on September 27 and has now been adjourned to October 4.

NEET PG is conducted for admission to post-MBBS and BDS courses. The results declared by the NBE on August 23 have raised concerns among students over unexpectedly low rankings. This year, the exam was conducted in two shifts instead of a single-shift format. With the new system, the NBE adopted the normalisation process.

NEET-PG Counselling 2024: MCC will conduct counselling for the following Institutions:

+ 50% All India Quota seats of all States (participation of Union Territory of J&K is subject to their contribution of seats). 100% seats (All India Quota seats + Institutional Quota seats) of Central Universities (Aligarh Muslim University/Banaras Hindu University/University of Delhi/Central Institutes) as per the eligibility conditions mentioned in the important questions related to counselling scheme duly uploaded on MCC website.

+ 100% seats of Deemed Universities.

+ 50% AIQ NEET PG seats of colleges under ESIC (wards of ESIC insured persons).

+ All PG seats of Armed Forces Medical Services Institutes (Registration part only).

+ Central Institutes, VMMC and Safdarjung Hospitals, ABVIMS and RML Hospitals and ESIC Institute, PGIMSR, Basaidarapur (50% All India Quota seats.
