Indian Embassy in UAE Advises its Citizens to Reschedule Non-Essential Travel as UAE Grapples with Historic Floods
The United Arab Emirates is trying to recover from record-setting rainfall this week that caused widespread flooding in Dubai and surrounding areas.
The Indian Embassy in UAE on Friday advised Indian passengers traveling to or from Dubai International Airport to reschedule non-essential travel until operations normalize following unprecedented rainfall in the city this week.
The United Arab Emirates is trying to recover from record-setting rainfall this week that caused widespread flooding in Dubai and surrounding areas.
The Indian Embassy in UAE advisory said that UAE authorities are working round the clock to normalize operations, while airport authorities have advised that passengers should wait for the final confirmation from the respective airlines regarding the date and time of departure.
The advisory said that due to the disruption caused by the unprecedented weather conditions in the UAE earlier this week, Dubai International Airport has temporarily limited the number of incoming flights.
Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest for international travel, is expected to return to normal hours within 24 hours.
“Indian passengers traveling to or from Dubai International Airport are advised to reschedule non-essential travel until operations return to normal,” the statement said.
According to the announcement, the Consulate General of India in Dubai has launched emergency helpline numbers to assist Indian nationals at Dubai International Airport, which will begin operations from April 17.
