Team India made history by winning two consecutive T20 World Cup titles, becoming the first country to defend their title and win it at home. Furthermore, this was the Men in Blue’s third T20 World Cup title – the most for any country since the tournament began.
India’s victory over New Zealand not only surprised billions in India but also caught the attention of some of the biggest names in the tech world. Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft Chief Executive Satya Nadella both congratulated Team India on winning the cup.

Pichai, who was present at a match during the tournament, said, “Congratulations to India on winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup!” He added, in a lighthearted manner. “Choose the wrong game to watch: what a stadium and atmosphere.”
India defeated New Zealand to win the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, becoming the first team in history to defend the title and the first to win it on home soil. The win completed India’s “Triple Crown”, adding to their 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy titles.
