Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET): A National-level Examination
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level examination conducted by the CBSE to determine the eligibility of candidates for appointment as teachers (for Classes 1–8) in Central Government schools (KVS, NVS) and other schools, thereby establishing a uniform standard for the quality of teaching across India. This examination is conducted twice a year, typically around July/August and December/January.
This year, the examination was conducted on February 7 and 8 across 140 cities and 1,803 examination centers nationwide. However, due to certain “administrative reasons,” Paper 2 could not be conducted on February 7 at two centers in Bihar. Subsequently, the examination was re-conducted specifically for these centers on March 1, 2026. The answer key for this examination was available from March 12 to March 15, during which period candidates could challenge the answer key, if necessary.
Qualified candidates are now eligible to apply to central government schools, including KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, and schools under the administrative control of the Union Territories of Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and NCT Delhi.
