The Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani (BITS Pilani) has announced three new alumni-funded scholarships totalling $500,000. These scholarships aim to support promising students seeking admission to the institute. This initiative adds another layer to the institute’s expanding pool of financial aid, which is backed by alumni from various batches.
The recently launched scholarships encompass both merit-based and merit-cum-means-based assistance for students. These have been funded by alumni from various batches, including Krishna Saraswat (Batch of 1963), S.K. Rungta (Batch of 1966), and the alumni couple Shrikrishna Sridhar and Arushi Agarwal (Batch of 2005).
The institute noted that these contributions reflect the sustained engagement of its alumni in promoting access to higher education.

BITS Pilani’s Scholarships

This announcement comes at a time when BITS Pilani’s endowment campaign is making steady progress toward its long-term funding goal. The campaign aims to raise $100 million and has, to date, secured pledges and contributions totaling over $45 million. These funds will be utilized to support scholarships, research initiatives, faculty development, and international collaborations.
With the addition of these new scholarships, the institute now offers over 300 scholarships funded by its alumni. These are in addition to the institute’s own financial aid programs, through which a large number of students receive assistance every year.
