MTech in Energy Transition and Sustainability at IIT Abu Dhabi Campus Begins with 19 Students
Presently, IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi is functioning on the campus of Zayed University in Abu Dhabi.
IIT Abu Dhabi Campus : The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi Abu Dhabi campus has inducted its first batch of students-19 have joined the MTech in Energy Transition and Sustainability programme. The program started from 29 January. Presently, IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi is functioning on the campus of Zayed University in Abu Dhabi.
The agreement between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to set up the IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi was signed in July 2023. Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, had announced the first course to be offered at the Abu Dhabi campus last November. During his visit to the United Arab Emirates last year. According to reports, other courses will be offered from September 2024.
According to the website, the MTech in Energy Transition and Sustainability offers two specializations: Technologies and Economics for Decarbonization Policy and Planning for Energy Transition. The course consists of 53 credits which include foundation and elective courses as well as a research project and internship component.
The course will have a mix of both sponsored and non-sponsored candidates.
Eligibility criteria, admission process in M.Tech
IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi considers applicants with at least a four-year engineering degree or three-year engineering and two-year master’s degree in engineering with a minimum 7.5 CGPA. The institute also asks for English language testing including TOEFL or IELTS.
Additionally for Masters course, candidates are also required to have minimum one year experience or 350 score in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or 150 score in Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
The admission process included application submission, shortlisting, interview for candidates with experience and written test followed by interview for students with less than one year of experience.
The director of IIT Delhi had earlier told media houses that they are considering using the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and JEE Advanced tests for admission to undergraduate programs at the Abu Dhabi campus. Abu Dhabi has been included in the list of cities where the JEE Main exam will be conducted this year.
