According to information provided by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s aircraft crashed on Wednesday morning shortly after being granted permission to land in Baramati (Baramati is a city, a tehsil, and a municipal council in the Pune district of Maharashtra state, India). This information was provided by the person handling Air Traffic Control (ATC) at the airfield.
The plane crash occurred at approximately 8:44 AM, just one minute after the aircraft was cleared to land on runway 11. Immediately after receiving clearance, flames were spotted near the runway, and emergency services were dispatched to the scene.

In this plane crash, all five people on board, two members of his staff and two crew, were killed along with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, officials said. The readout stated that Baramati is an “uncontrolled airfield,” where traffic information is shared entirely by instructors or pilots of flying training organisations operating at the airport, rather than by a dedicated Air Traffic Control (ATC) unit.
The aviation authorities have confirmed that the aircraft’s captain, Sumit Kapoor, and co-pilot, Sambhavi Pathak, were involved in the accident. They stated that both pilots were well-trained and that there was no technical fault with the aircraft. Besides the two crew members, the aircraft was carrying two staff members of Ajit Pawar, identified as Vidip Jadhav and Pinky Mali.
