Uttar Pradesh government has postponed the UPTET 2020 exam due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in India. The UPTET notification was set to release on May 11, 2021 and the online application process was scheduled to begin on May 18.
However, in view of the current pandemic situation, the exam has been deferred till further orders.
Earlier on March 15, 2021, the authorities released an official notice detailing about the conduct of the UPTET exam on July 25, 2021. With the postponement of the exam, the new dates and schedule will be announced later.
The UPTET is a state-level eligibility test conducted by Uttar Pradesh Pareeksha Niyamak Pradhandhikari. Candidates who clear UPTET shall be eligible to teach Classes from 1 to 8 in schools across the state.

Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is a state-level exam conducted once a year to enable candidates gain eligibility for primary (Classes 1-5) and upper primary (Classes 6-8) level teachers in the schools of Uttar Pradesh. The exam is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB).
UPTET exam is conducted in two shifts for two papers – I and II. UPTET paper-I is conducted for candidates who plan to become teachers of Classes 1-5. On the other hand, UPTET paper-II is for candidates who plan to become teachers of Classes 6-8.
Candidates who wish to become teachers of Classes 1-8 need to appear in both the papers. Both the UPTET papers are conducted on the same day in offline mode as pen-and-paper based tests.
All candidates qualifying the exam will now be issued UPTET eligibility certificate 2020. The validity of eligibility certificate will be five years.
Based on the UPTET eligibility certificate candidates will be able to apply for the post of teacher in the government schools of Uttar Pradesh.
