Vinesh Phogat was Disqualified due to Standing Overweight(50kg)

In a big impact on India's likelihood of acquiring a Gold medal, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the female 50kg wrestling final at the Paris Olympics.

Vinesh Phogat is a skilled wrestler and a three-time Olympian. Before, she became the first Indian woman wrestler to prevail in gold at the Asian Games and Commonwealth. She is the sole Indian female wrestler to win considerable medallions at the WORLD WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP Phogat also became the foremost Indian athlete to be designated for the LAUREUS WORLD SPORTS AWARDS  in 2019.

Vinesh arrives from a household of medal-disarming wrestlers.  Her cousins have been notable global wrestlers and Commonwealth medalists. She is the daughter of wrestler Rajpal Phogat and a cousin of wrestlers GEETA and BABITA. Both her cousin sisters  have won gold in the 55 kg class at the COMMONWEALTH GAMES

During the 2024 PARIS OLYMPICS, Phogat became the first international wrestler to overthrow YUI SUSAKI, the reigning gold medalist and four-time World Champion, in WOMEN’S 50KG WRESTLING  evolving the first female wrestler from India to get an Olympic final.

In a big impact on India’s likelihood of acquiring a Gold medal, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the female 50kg wrestling final at the Paris Olympics. The 29-year-old was discovered ineligible to vie on the second daytime as she was found 150 grams overweight during the weigh-in on the day of the final.

Unfortunately, Vinesh Phogat will not win any medal at the Paris Olympics, if the disqualification abides.

Despite the best grinds from Vinesh Phogat’s team on Tuesday night, the wrestler skipped the poundage on Wednesday.

According to the World Wrestling Body, any wrestler who cuts the weight is given the last standing. It has appeared that there is no worth capsizing the judgment and that Vinesh Phogat will return to family without a medal.

Vinesh Phogat was in the 50kg allowable boundary on Tuesday. She astounded World No. 1 Yui Susaki in the commencement round before performing her way via the quarter-final and the semi-final to become the first-ever Indian woman to attain Olympic wrestling conclusively.

It is with remorse that the Indian contingent claims news of the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat from the Women’s Wrestling 50kg category.

“ Despite the best actions by the squad through the night, she mulledin a few grams over 50kg this morning. No additional statements will be made by the delegation during this period. The Indian team bids you respect Vinesh’s solitariness. It would like to focus on the rounds on hand,” the Indian Olympic Association said in a proclamation.
