On July 11, 2025, Dolly Chaiwala (real name Sunil Patil) announced the launch of a pan‑India franchise model for his tea brand “Dolly Ki Tapri”, calling it India’s first viral street brand.” His team invited applications from “real people with real passion”, offering franchise formats from street‑side carts to full‑scale flagship cafés.
A section of social media users congratulated Dolly Chaiwala, while others pointed out the encroachment of viral personalities in the business sector. Dolly Chaiwala, a tea vendor from Nagpur known for his unique serving style and collaboration with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, is now venturing into the business sector as he announced his intentions to broaden his brand, Dolly Ki Tapri, throughout India via a franchise model.
Announcing it on social media, he stated, “This is India’s first viral street brand, and now… it presents a business opportunity.” From carts to flagship cafes, we’re launching nationwide and looking for real people with real passion to carry this dream forward.
If you’ve ever wanted to build something big, something desi, something truly legendary, this is your moment. Limited cities. Unlimited chai. Applications open now.”
The announcement carried a link to an application form circulated via Instagram Stories, highlighting three franchise formats: a cart stall priced between Rs 4.5 lakh and Rs 6 lakh, a store model priced between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 22 lakh, and a flagship café priced between Rs 39 lakh and Rs 43 lakh.
Within just 48 hours of the announcement, 1609+ applications poured in from across India, and even overseas. The excitement reflects the strength of Dolly’s brand identity and digital traction.
Brand analysts call this initiative a bold attempt to turn social media virality into a scalable business. Their franchise system includes training on signature performance, supply chain support, content templates, and execution audits.
