MBBS Education in China: Students Unable to Return to China, Concerned about their future, urges government to solve the problem.

MBBS Education in China: Indian medical students studying MBBS in China have not returned to campuses for nearly two years amid travel restrictions since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Worried about their future, around 150 MBBS students enrolled in China have moved the Delhi High Court for permission for physical training. The matter was filed before a bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Jyoti Singh which has issued notices to the Center and the National Medical Commission. The matter will be heard on March 21.

The students also took to the microblogging website- Twitter to raise their concerns with hashtags- #takeUsBackToChina, #TakeIndianStudentsBackToChina, #PMSaveIndianStudentsOfChina. As per 2019 statistics, over 21,000 Indian students have enrolled for MBBS Education in China.

NMC has recently released a notice regarding the admission to the MBBS programs in the university in China. NMC Secretary Dr Sandhya Bhullar said, “It has come to the notice of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India that some universities in China have started issuing notices for admission to MBBS programs for the current and upcoming academic years.”

In this context, “any prospective student needs to be aware that the Government of the People’s Republic of China has imposed strict travel restrictions in the wake of COVID-19 and has suspended all visas from November 2020”, a statement issued in this regard said. written in the notice.
