Tata Steel and IIT Bhubaneswar sign MoU to Launch TomorrowLab Accelerator Programme for Startups

The programme will facilitate interaction with startups from all over India. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar will serve as the central hub for all activities supported by the India Accelerator.

New Delhi: Tata Steel has signed an MoU with IIT Bhubaneswar Research and Entrepreneurship Park (IIT BBSR REP) and India Accelerator (IA) to launch a six-month TomorrowLab (TomorrowLab is an innovation and strategy consulting firm). Accelerator Programme for emerging startups jointly. The programme will commence in September 2025 and aims to empower startups, provide a conducive environment that fosters their growth, help them connect with industry, and accelerate their journey, the press release said.

The TomorrowLab Accelerator Programme is planned to foster innovation, bridge the gap between academia and industry, create a dynamic environment for startups to thrive, and provide valuable resources and guidance to transform entrepreneurial ideas into viable and sustainable businesses.

Tata Steel and IIT Bhubaneswar TomorrowLab Accelerator programme:

Startups intending to apply for the TomorrowLab Accelerator programme must have a minimum viable product (MVP) and demonstrate initial market traction. The programme will facilitate interaction with startups from all over India. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar will serve as the central hub for all activities supported by the India Accelerator. The key objectives of the programme are:

+ Facilitate mentorship, workshops for capacity building, and technical assistance for startups.

+ Provide access to funding, advisory services for businesses, and opportunities for commercialization.

+ Utilise the network of IA and IIT BBSR REP to foster strategic partnerships, enhance business development, and improve market access for startups. Enhance Tata Steel’s involvement with the vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Odisha and beyond

As mentioned in the press release, the programme will also serve as a structured dialogue for Tata Steel with startups working in areas such as water, waste heat recovery, robotics, and automation. After the completion of the programme, the company will integrate select startups from the group that provide relevant solutions for a pilot project.
