Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar reunited with his childhood friend Vinod Kambli at the unveiling ceremony of legendary cricket coach Ramakant Achrekar’s memorial in Mumbai on Tuesday, December 3. Notably, Sachin Tendulkar and Kambli were Achrekar’s disciples, who honed their cricketing skills under his guidance.
The two made headlines for their impeccable batting right from their teenage years and were involved in a mammoth 664-run partnership in school cricket. Kambli and Tendulkar emerged as two of Achrekar’s greatest students as they realised their dream of playing for India. Recently, these childhood friends were seen reuniting at an event organised for the unveiling of their childhood coach’s memorial.
In a viral video, Tendulkar can be seen walking up to Kambli and greeting him while the two hug each other and chat for a while. Apart from him, former cricketers and Achrekar disciples Paras Mhambrey, Pravin Amre, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Sanjay Bangar and Sameer Dighe also attended the event. Kambli is going through a rough patch in his life as recently a video of him went viral in which he was unable to walk on his own which left his fans worried about his health.
Kambli expressed concerns about his poor financial situation in 2022 and revealed that he completely depends on the pension provided by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to support his family.
