Southern Railway to recruit 1343 Apprentice posts, registration link here

Candidates are encouraged to submit applications for positions as apprentices with Southern Railway. By October 31, 2022, applications for the positions must be submitted.

The organisation will add 1343 positions as a result of this hiring effort. Details about eligibility, the selection procedure, and other matters are provided below.

  • Ex-ITI Category: 1233 Posts

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in applying for the positions should review the Detailed Notification, which is accessible online, to confirm their educational requirements. Candidates for the Freshers/Ex-ITI and MLT positions should be at least 15 years old, respectively, and they should NOT be older than 22 or 24.

Selection  Process

The Merit List developed for each qualified applicant who submits an application in response to the Notification shall be the basis for selection. The Committee chosen for this task will create the Merit List.

Applications Fees

There is a Rs. 100 application fee. The ONLINE MODE is required for fee payment. SC/ST/PwBD/Women applicants do not need to pay a fee. Candidates can visit Southern Railways’ official website for additional information on this.

Indian Railway:

Indian Railways is a statutory body under the ownership of Ministry of Railways, Government of India that operates India’s national railway system. It manages the fourth largest national railway system in the world by size, with a total route length of 67,956 km as of 31 March 2022.

The organization of Indian railways into regional zones began in 1951, when the Southern (14 April 1951), Central (5 November 1951), and Western (5 November 1951) zones were created.  Fans and lights were mandated for all compartments in all passenger classes in 1951, and sleeping accommodations were introduced in coaches.

In 1956, the first fully air-conditioned train was introduced between Howrah and Delhi (Presently known as Poorva Express). Ten years later, the first containerised freight service began between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
