UGC NET Exam 2024: The Education Ministry on Wednesday announced the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam after prima facie indications were that the integrity of the exam has been compromised.
According to an official statement from the Education Ministry, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the UGC-NET June 2024 exam in OMR (pen and paper) mode in two shifts in different cities of the country on June 18, 2024.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) was informed by the National Cyber Crime Threat Analysis Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs on June 19, 2024, regarding a possible compromise with the integrity of the examination.

In order to maintain utmost transparency and integrity of the examination process, the Ministry has decided to cancel the UGC-NET June 2024 examination.
It said that a fresh examination will be conducted, information about which will be shared separately. The ministry said the case is being handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for thorough investigation.
UGC-NET is conducted by NTA from December 2018 in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. Earlier, the examination was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The examination, held twice every year (June and December), determines eligibility for ‘Assistant Professor’ as well as ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian institutions.
