T20 World Cup 2022: India, captained by Rohit Sharma, chased down 160 off 20 overs after Virat Kohli stayed unbeaten on 82 runs off 53 balls at the iconic MCG.
India, on Sunday, October 23, registered the highest successful run-chase in T20Is against Pakistan. The Men in Blue achieved the feat after beating Babar Azam’s Men in Green by four wickets in the T20 World Cup Super 12 match at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Back on August 28, India beat Pakistan by five wickets in the Asia Cup 2022 Group match against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Back then, Rohit Sharma and Co had chased down 148 after Hardik Pandya hit Mohammad Nawaz down the ground for a massive six.
Even this time around, it was Nawaz who bowled the final over and yet another time he failed. Nawaz had 16 runs to play with in the final over and he started the over with Hardik Pandya’s wicket. Later, he also got the better of Dinesh Karthik after Mohammad Rizwan showed a great piece of glove-work.
However, Virat Kohli stayed unbeaten on 82 off 53 balls and took the Men in Blue over the finish line. India found themselves in all sorts of trouble after losing their opening batters, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, in pretty quick succession.
However, a 113-run partnership between Kohli and Pandya brought India back into the match. In the last three overs, India needed 48 runs to win and they got over the line after loads of twists and turns.
