2024 Lok Sabha Elections Tomorrow: In the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, voting will be held on 89 seats in 12 states and union territories on Friday. At the end of the day, voting will have been completed for over a third of the 543 seats of 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, including all seats in Kerala, Rajasthan, Manipur and Tripura, as well as 14 of the 28 seats in Karnataka.
In outer Manipur, 13 assembly constituencies are going to polls in the second phase; the remaining 15 had voted in the first phase along with the Inner Manipur seat. Of the 89 seats, 9 seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 7seats for Scheduled Tribes.
The Total Candidates in Phase 2:
A total of 1,210 candidates will be in the fray on Friday. In this phase, BSP has fielded maximum 74 candidates, followed by BJP 69 and Congress 68. Voting is taking place on 14 seats in Karnataka, which has the highest number of 247 candidates, followed by Maharashtra (8 seats) with 204 candidates and Kerala (all 20 of its seats) at 189.
Candidates with Criminal Cases in Phase 2:
Of the 250 candidates with criminal cases, the highest number of 67 is from Kerala, followed by 49 from Maharashtra and 39 from Karnataka. In Kerala, more than one-third of all candidates are facing criminal cases. Among the major parties, Congress has the highest number of criminal cases among all candidates in the second phase at 35 or 51%, followed by BJP at 31 or 45%. Of the CPI (M)’s 18 candidates (in four states), 14 are facing pending FIRs, which is 78% of all its candidates. Criminal cases are also registered against 74 independent MLAs.

State Wise Crorepati Candidates:
Of the 390 Crorepati candidates, Karnataka has the highest number of Crorepatis at 80, followed by Kerala at 63 and Maharashtra at 60. However, as a share of all candidates, UP has 42 Crorepatis across its eight seats, which is 46% of all its candidates in second phase. Among parties, BJP has the highest number of Crorepati candidates at 64 or 93%, followed by Congress at 62 or 91%. The two richest candidates in the second phase are both from Congress. At least six independent candidates have declared zero assets in this phase.

Women Candidates in the Second Phase:
There are a total of 100 women candidates in the second phase, a total of 235 women candidates in the first two phases. At 9, BJP has the highest number of women candidates, followed by Congress and BSP with 6 each. Kerala has the maximum number of 24 women candidates. In Tripura East, 22% of the candidates are women, the highest in this phase. In 2014 and 2019, 8 women won these 89 seats.
