New Postgraduate Medical Course: Medical colleges wishing to start new postgraduate (PG) medical courses such as MD/MS, DM/MCH, PDF, PDCC or six-year DM/MCH will have to seek guidance from the PG Medical Education Board (PGMEB) to start the new course. The concerned medical college or institute can submit the formal proposal along with the required fees only after receiving proper response from the Board.
The National Medical Commission (Recognition of Medical Qualifications) Regulations, 2023, lay down the procedure for inclusion of new medical courses. As per the regulation “any medical institution offering undergraduate or postgraduate or super-speciality medical courses may apply to the concerned board with such documents and information for inclusion of any new medical courses, which is not already included in the list”. The NMC notification said, “Therefore, all medical colleges/institutions who wish to apply for a new PG medical courses which has not been included in Annexure-I, II, III, IV, V and VI of the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations-2023 are requested to apply for the same in the application form for starting a new course (speciality), which is available on the NMC website.” The following annexures are to be attached with the application form
(a) Standard Assessment Form Part-A (Common Institutional Information for all PG Specialties).
(b) Standard Assessment Form Part-B of the parent specialty.
All such applications must be accompanied by the requisite fee of Rs 2,50,000 and 18 per cent GST per course and addressed to PGMEB.
