NMC-Guidelines for Incoming MBBS Students; Academic Year to Start From November 15

NMC-Guidelines: According to a notice issued today by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the academic year for incoming MBBS students — who will be admitted for the 2022–2023 academic calendar will start on November 15, and all other breaks and examination schedules will be set up in accordance with the affiliated universities of the respective colleges.

According to the NMC-Guidelines, institutions will adapt two blocks of electives, each lasting 15 days, for pre-paraclinical and clinical branches. Additionally, there must be a month between the normal tests and the extra exams, and results must be released within 15 days. Additionally, the updated rules state that there won’t be any additional batches.

The NMC schedule states that the first year of Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry would have a 13-month academic year (from November 15, 2022 to December 15, 2023). The second year of Pathology, Microbiology, and Pharmacology will last for 13 months, from December 16, 2023, to January 15, 2025.

The NEET UG test was held this year on July 17 in the offline mode, and the results for NEET UG 2022 were released on September 7.

The registration process for NEET UG counselling 2022 has already been launched by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). According to the official schedule, candidates will have until 11 a.m. on October 17 to register for round one of counselling.

Medical Counselling Committee (MCC):

In compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme court of India in I.A. no. 16/2021 in C.A. no. 1944 of 1993 DGHS was entrusted to conduct on-line counselling at the All India level in the year 2012. Accordingly, MCC was constituted with the approval of the then Secretary, MoHFW, GOI vide Office order dated 13.02.2012.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF MCC:

The following roles & responsibilities have been entrusted to MCC of DGHS:

1. Maintenance of official website of MCC, DGHS,
2. Finalisation of counselling procedure & schedule,
3. Co-ordination with the concerned agencies for counselling against State/UT quota seats,
4. Matters including court cases transferred to MCC.
5. Any other task(s) related to counselling & allocation of seats against AIQ, etc.
6. Finalisation of counselling centers & making necessary arrangements at the Counsellingcenters, if applicable.
7. Fixation of Counsellingfees & deposits, if any.
8. Distribution & collection of form.
9. Work relating to audit of funds to be placed under its disposal.
