NMC Cautions Against Misleading News on New Medical Colleges

In response to this misinformation, the NMC clarified that it has only published a list of applications reviewed by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB).

New Medical Colleges: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a warning to medical aspirants regarding a fake notice circulated on social media regarding the establishment of new medical colleges for the academic year 2024-25.

In response to this misinformation, the NMC clarified that it has only published a list of applications reviewed by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB).  The compilation does not indicate that the 113 proposed colleges have received approval for their applications. The final decision on these applications, whether accepted or rejected, will be announced on the official NMC website.

The NMC official notification said: “With reference to MARB’s public notice dated July 6, 2024, it is observed that some fake news has been published/circulated in the print and electronic media, claiming that MARB has taken the final decision on 113 applications to establish new medical colleges for the academic year 2024-25.”

The notification further clarifies: “NMC’s public notice dated July 6, 2024 lists only those applications for which MARB has taken a final decision. This does not mean approval for all 113 applications. The decision, whether approval or rejection, has already been communicated to the concerned medical institutions and will be posted on the NMC website in due course.”

Emphasizing its commitment towards transparency, NMC urged students and other stakeholders to rely only on the information provided on its official website for authentic news. The notification concludes by advising all stakeholders and the public not to pay attention to any misleading or baseless news published in print or electronic media.
