National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has Issued Regulations Regarding Leave for Postgraduate Medical Trainees.

According to the official website of NBEMS, “Each NBEMS program requires a mandatory period of training, which must be completed in order to be eligible to take the exit examination.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), New Delhi has announced a set of guidelines for postgraduate (PG) trainees to follow while seeking leave from institutions. The purpose of the NBEMS Leave Rules is to establish guidelines and procedures for leave management for trainees registered with NBEMS who are undergoing PG medical training at NBEMS-recognized institutions.

According to the official website of NBEMS, “Each NBEMS program requires a mandatory period of training, which must be completed in order to be eligible to take the exit examination. National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) trainees are instructed to complete their training by the selected cut-off date in order to be eligible for the exit examination.

As per the leave policy set by the board, NBEMS trainees are allowed to take a maximum of 30 days of leave each year during their training period. This is the ‘eligible leave’ for individual NBEMS trainees. During training, the candidate is also granted weekly or duty leave. However, when a candidate is on leave, the weekly/duty leave will be included in the leave taken by the candidate.

Maternity leave to female trainees should be granted as per the policies of the Central or State Government applicable to the training institute. The NBEMS training programme does not include any provision for extending maternity leave beyond the admissible period, nor does it provide Child Care Leave (CCL).

Trainees are not permitted to take any study leave or any occupation or register in any other academic course during the leave period.

Any leave taken by an NBEMS student, which is in excess of the annual allowance of 30 days, will lead to an extension in the NBEMS training period. This extension will be equal to the number of days of additional leave taken by the trainee. The extension of the training period cannot be compensated by working extra hours on working days or by working on holidays.
