More Like an ant Colony; Bengaluru Traffic at its Worst Since the Bike Taxi ban?

It is not that there was less traffic to begin with. A city like Bengaluru, which already witnesses a lot of traffic, bike taxi bans have single-handedly increased more traffic

Bengaluru Traffic: It has been a few days since the Karnataka High Court banned bike taxis in Bengaluru, since then the city seems more like an ant colony. Road blockages and Traffic jams can clearly be seen more often than they were usually seen.

It is not that there was less traffic to begin with. A city like Bengaluru, which already witnesses a lot of traffic, bike taxi bans have single-handedly increased more traffic; some say that traffic has increased by 5x than normal.

Increased traffic has resulted in citizens getting frustrated. People are exerting their anger and frustration on social media; people say that this decision resulted in an increased number of private vehicles and autos on roads, worsening an already less managed traffic system.

Many X users highlighted the inconveniences they are facing on a daily basis: Narrow lanes, congested traffic, no metro access in many areas, potholes and what not. One wrote that he has to pay around RS500 daily just to commute. Many called it the worst decision, especially affecting those who rely on the affordability of the transport.

Well, the High Court banned the bike taxis because the bike taxi operations by aggregators were illegal considering Karnataka’s current legal framework which put services like Rapido, Uber Moto, and Ola Bike on hold.

As of now, there is no statement by Bengaluru Traffic Commissioner.
