Ministry of Education signs MoU with FIFA and AIFF to implement Football4Schools in India

The agreement was signed by Union Minister Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan on behalf of MoE, Gianni Infantino, president, FIFA, and Kalyan Chaubey, president,  All India Football Federation, on October 30, 2022.

Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Minister signed a memorandum of understanding ( MoU) in Mumbai with FIFA and AIFF (International Federation and Association Football) for the initiative of Football4Schools in India, on behalf of Ministry of Education.

Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, and Kalyan Chaubey, President of All India Football Federation signed MoU on behalf of the respective organization.

About Event

Speaking about the event, Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs and Youth Affairs and Sports, Nisith Pramanik; Minister for School Education and Marathi Language- Maharashtra Deepak Kesarkar; Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti  Vinayak Garg and officials of All India Football Federation among others were present on the occasion.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said at the event that with the inclusion of the New Education Policy 2020, the sport has been given a place of dignity, also added football is an immensely popular sport and to inspire children and ensure their holistic development the Football4Schools will be used as a positive tool.

Further added, Mr. Pradhan said that “Football4Schools” through sports-integrated learning will empower 25 million young boys and girls.

FIFA and AIFF Aim of Football4Schools

It aims to equip students with useful life skills and competencies, train coach-educators to conduct sports and life-skills activities, increase the capacity of stakeholders, including schools, member associations, and public authorities, to conduct life-skills training through football, and strengthen the collaboration between governments and participating schools to enable partnerships, alliances, and intersectoral collaboration.

Furthermore, according to education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, FIFA plans to reach out to 700 million children worldwide, out of which 25 million are from India. The agreement was signed by Union Minister Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan on behalf of MoE, Gianni Infantino, president, FIFA, and Kalyan Chaubey, president,  All India Football Federation, on October 30, 2022.
