Maharashtra Cabinet Ministers List: A total of 39 MLAs were inducted into the Maharashtra government on Sunday (December 15), including state Bharatiya Janata Party chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule. The swearing-in ceremony took place in Nagpur, a day before the week-long winter session of the state legislature begins on December 16.
While 33 were inducted as Maharashtra Cabinet ministers, 6 took oath as Ministers of State. Of the 33 Cabinet ministers, 16 are from the BJP, 9 from the Shiv Sena and 8 from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The BJP has also retained a major share in the list of Ministers of State, with three MLAs from the party taking oath. Two Ministers of State are from the Shiv Sena and one from the NCP.
With the swearing-in, the power-sharing agreement between the Mahayuti alliance is expected to be finalised soon. The Home portfolio, which was a major bone of contention between the BJP and its ally Shiv Sena, will remain with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 saw a decisive victory for the Mahayuti, which won a landslide victory with 230 of the 288 seats in the state.
The BJP won 132 seats, while the Shiv Sena secured 57 seats and the NCP got 41 seats. On December 5, Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the CM along with former CM Eknath Shinde and NCP’s Ajit Pawar.
