Iran-Israel Tensions: Indian students have been asking for help from the Indian government since the beginning of the attacks. The Embassy has asked students to calm down and relocate in accordance with safety as the blasts were reported just a few kilometers from student apartments and hostels. Imtisal Mohidin, an MBBS student at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, has explained ANI over the phone, that they are stuck in their apartment basements, and they have been hearing blasts every night, not even letting them sleep; not because of the noise of blasts but because of the fear and uncertainty, in fact; one of the blasts was only about 5 km away from their place of residence.
This is not just about Tehran; an Indian student, Faizan Nabi at Kerman University of Medical Sciences informed ANI that his parents are calling him for about at least 10 times in a day; the internet is slow so much that people can’t even send WhatsApp messages; hence the panic is spreading even in relatively safer places. He also said that they have been advised to store drinking water for at least 3–4 days. He cited that they came to Iran to become doctors, but now they are just trying to stay alive.
Not just two; there are many students who informed about the situation personally to the MEA, embassy and other officials.
As of now, Indian students have only received guidelines and safety advisories from the Indian Embassy. Students plead the GOVT to evacuate them before the situation gets worse as it is now about life at stake. The Indian Embassy is connected with students through WhatsApp groups and channels. Though they have issued advisory to store daily rations, stay inside, calm down, and reassure the incoming aids; evacuation has still not commenced so far.
