Delhi-NCR: Delhi’s air quality remained in the “severe” category for the third consecutive day, with the air quality index (AQI) at 415 on Saturday.
Delhi spent another day in a smoggy haze, making it difficult for residents to breathe, as the air quality index (AQI) remained in the “severe” category for the third consecutive day on Saturday, even as weather agencies predicted that the pollution level of the city will remain like this for the next three days.
The national capital recorded an AQI of 415 on Saturday as neutral winds, smoke from farm fires and low temperatures kept pollutants concentrated close to the ground. On Friday, Delhi recorded AQI of 468, the highest in almost two years. And while the city’s official reading according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)’s 4 pm bulletin on Thursday was 392, slightly below the “severe” category, the number jumped to over 400 just an hour later.
Greater Noida was the most polluted city in the National Capital Region (Delhi-NCR) and in fact in the country – with an AQI of 490. Noida recorded an AQI of 408, while Gurugram recorded an AQI of 404.
