Air India Flight Crash in Ahmedabad: The black box of Air India flight AI-271 that crashed near Ahmedabad airport earlier this week has been successfully recovered and the data downloaded, officials confirmed today.
The black box, which contains the flight data recorder (FDR) and cockpit voice recorder (CVR), will help investigators determine the exact cause of the plan crash. A preliminary report on the cause of the crash is expected within 7 to 10 days, officials said, while the final investigation report is likely to be released within a month.
However, in a major breakthrough, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has succeeded in safely extracting the Crash Protection Module, or CPM, and the Memory Module and downloading the data.
The government said both the boxes – one found on the roof of the hostel into which the plane crashed and the other from the wreckage – were safely taken to the AAIB laboratory in Delhi on Tuesday.
Many people lost their lives and many were injured in this tragic accident. A detailed analysis of the black box data will be crucial to understand what went wrong during the flight.
