SSC: STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION
CHSL: COMBINED HIGHER SECONDARY LEVEL
SSC CHSL is a national-level examination that aims at recruiting high school graduates into the various government departments, offices, and ministries for jobs such as Data Entry Operators, Lower Division clerks (LDC), and Junior Secretariat Assistants among others.
SSC CGL The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an association under the Government of India that is responsible for recruiting staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India.
The Functions of the commission are as follows:
To make Recruitment to (i) all Group “B” Posts in the various Ministries/Departments of the Govt. of India and their Attached and Subordinate Offices which are in the pay scales the utmost of which is Rs.10,500 or lower and (ii) all non-technical Group “C” posts in the various Ministries/Departments of the Govt. of India and their Attached and Subordinate Offices, excluding those posts which are particularly excused from the purview of the Staff Selection Commission.

To conduct examinations and/or interviews, whenever required for recruitment to the posts within its purview. The tests would be held as far as possible at different centers and successful contenders posted, to the extent possible, to their home State/Region.
To hold Open Competitive Examinations for recruitment to the posts of:
1. Lower Division Clerks in the various Ministries/Departments, Attached and Subordinate Offices of the Government of India
2. Grade “C” and Grade ‘D” Typists
3. Assistants in the various Ministries/Departments including Attached and Subordinate Offices of the Government of India
4. Inspectors of Central Excise in different Collectorates of Central Excise, Inspectors of Income in different charges of the Commissioners of Income, Preventive Officers and Examiners in different Custom Houses, Assistant Enforcement Officers in the Directorate of Enforcement;
5. Sub-Inspectors in, Central Bureau of Investigation and Central Police Organisations;
6. Sub-Inspectors in, Central Bureau of Investigation and Central Police Organisations;
7. Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical) in CPWD
8. Statistical Investigators, Grade IV of Subordinate Statistical Service (SSC)
9. Tax Assistant ( a Group C non–Gazetted)
10. Section Officers in various Departments
Every year almost 30 lakh students apply for the exam but only 15 lakh of them appear. This year in 2024 only 3712 vacancies are allotted for all the candidates who appeared in this year’s exam.
The Staff Selection Commission will be declaring the SSC CHSL Result 2024 on its official website very soon. The results of the Combined Higher Secondary Level Tier I examination have been declared by all those candidates who had appeared for a written test. Candidates can check the exam at the official website of SSC ssc.gov.in after the announcement. SSC CHSL Tier I Examination was executed from July 1 to June 11, across the country at different exam centres. After the release of the temporary answer key on July 18, contenders were allowed to send objections -if any-till July 23.
The commission then published the answer keys as well along with responses of candidates and also called upon candidates to send in representations (if any) between July 18 and for a week–July 23 on payment of ₹100 per question/answer pad challenged.
