After the NEETPG exam, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will oversee the counselling process for 50% of the All India Quota (AIQ) seats, while state counselling authorities will manage the remaining 50% state quota seats. The counselling process involves multiple rounds of registration, choice filling, seat allocation and reporting to the allotted institutes.

All MBBS course students have to complete their internship after the course, without which they will not be eligible for the NEET PG exam. The deadline for completion of internship for all NEET PG candidates has been set as July 31, 2025, to ensure that all candidates meet the required eligibility criteria to appear for the exam.
