UPSC Civil Services Exam 2025 Updates: Vacancies Drop to 979, See Year-on-Year Data

UPSC Civil Services Exam 2025 Notification Updates: The Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) released the Civil Services Exam (CSE) 2025 notification today on January 22. There are 979 posts to be recruited this year. Candidates can check detailed information bulletin, syllabus and examination pattern for this year at upsc.gov.in.

Unlike previous years, when the UPSC CSE notification was released in February, this year the commission is releasing the notification and starting applications in January. However, the time when the notification will be released has not been announced yet. Keep following this blog for the timing and latest updates. UPSC had released a notification of a total of 1,056 vacancies for CSE and 150 for IFoS last year.

The UPSC CSE interview session is ongoing and will end in April. The UPSC CSE 2025 preliminary exam will be held on May 25. Candidates who score more than the cut-off marks in the CSE preliminary exam will be eligible to register for the UPSC main exam. The main exam will be descriptive and will be held for five days from August 22.

As per the revised UPSC Annual Calendar 2025, the Civil Services Preliminary Exam will be held on May 25, 2025. Additionally, the last date to apply for the Civil Services (Preliminary) exams is February 11, 2025. The Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam will consist of two papers consisting of objective type or multiple-choice questions.
