UPSC Civil-Services Case: SC Dismisses Plea for Extra Attempt to Clear the Exam.

The prestigious exam is conducted in three stages – Preliminary, Mains and Interview – to select personnel for the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service and Indian Police Service.

UPSC Civil-Services Case: The Supreme Court on February 20 refused to give relief to civil services exam aspirants who asked them to put in extra effort to clear the exam.

The apex court was hearing a plea by candidates who had missed their last chance in the examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Let the government take a call in terms of policy. But if you want judicial review, we have to draw a line,” the Supreme Court said, according to Live Law.

UPSC Civil-Services aspirants have been demanding one more attempt for quite some time now. In December last year, he staged a protest in Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar area and claimed that candidates of other recruitment exams like SSC and Agniveer were given extra attempts due to Covid.

The Civil Services Preliminary Examination, 2023 will be held on 28 May.

The prestigious exam is conducted in three stages – Preliminary, Mains and Interview – to select personnel for the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service and Indian Police Service.

Around 1,105 vacancies are to be filled through the UPSC Civil-Services Examination this year.
