University of Delhi will offer students who could not complete their degree a chance to do so.

University of Delhi (DU) will now give a chance to “Centenary” to those students who could not complete their degree due to some reason, they return to the university and take their exams.

A proposal for this was approved in the special executive council meeting held on January 28 to discuss the centenary celebrations of the university.

The celebrations to mark the centenary year of DU will begin from May 1 and see the year-long programs planned by the university which will continue till May 1, 2023.

Explaining the details, he said that such students will be given two chances between May 1, 2022 and March 1, 2023 – first around September and October, and second, around March – in which they can take their exams.

“There will be separate registration for them, and students who could not appear for two-three papers can appear in their examinations,” Singh said.

He said that the Dean of Examinations Professor DS Rawat has been entrusted with the task of working out the modalities of the initiative.

According to Executive Council member Rajpal Singh Panwar, this aspect was discussed in a special meeting held in the last week of January.

“It was discussed that now papers are under semester system. Earlier there was no semester system. Also, the syllabus has changed, and even some teachers are not. We can do for those students, who are in DU for the last four-five years.”

He said something similar was done in 2012, and there was talk that maybe the backlog could be cleared from 2012, but there could be some issues.

“It does not mean that one who has left the course in his first year will be able to complete his remaining two years through it. It is for those who could not take a couple of papers, and they will be given a chance. exams again,” he said.

Delhi University has allocated Rs 10 crore for its centenary year celebrations and plans to bring out a coffee table book on the occasion.
