TISS and JMI are among the 8 universities to adopt CUET by 2022-23.

The announcement was made by UGC President M Jagadesh Kumar after a meeting with the Vice Chancellors and Directors of these institutions on Monday.

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai and Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi are among the eight deemed-to-be universities considering the idea of ​​adopting the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission of students to undergraduate programmes from 2022-23 academic session.

The announcement was made by UGC President M Jagadesh Kumar after a meeting with the Vice Chancellors and Directors of these institutions. On Sunday, the UGC had appealed to public universities under state governments, colleges and private universities to consider CUET for UG admissions.

During the 2022-23 academic session, Jamia Millia Islamia will accept students to eight programmes via the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), according to an official statement released on Monday.

Admissions to selected undergraduate courses will be handled through Common University Entrance Test (CUET), according to a meeting attended by the Jamia Millia Islamia university’s top administrators.

BA Hons (Hindi), BA Hons (Sanskrit), BA Hons (French and Francophone Studies), BA Hons (Spanish and Latin American Studies), BA Hons (Economics), BA Hons (History), BSc in Biotechnology, and BVoc (Solar Energy) are among the courses offered, according to the statement.

For all eight programmes, the university has set a minimum qualifying requirement of 50% in Class 12 board exams.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Testing Agency (NTA) have been informed of the decision, according to the statement. All 45 central universities have made CUET a mandatory requirement for entrance to undergraduate programmes.

Apart from TISS Mumbai and Jamia Milia Islamia Delhi, the other six institutes that participated in the meeting are: Gandhigram Rural Institute; Dayalbagh Education Institution, Agra; Gurukul Kangri, Haridwar; Gujarat Vidyapith, Ahmedabad; Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore; Ramakrishna Vivekananda Educational Research Institute, Kolkata.
